Brutal Blueblood
fuck. Fuck anyone. Fuck a lot of people. But get your shite together. We all agreed we’re going to New York for this holiday, so I need you out of fucking bed, dressed, packed, and ready to roll, or I let Rhys come and wake you up. And then whatever he does to you, I don’t want to know about.”Phin’s eyes went wide, and he paled. “You wouldn’t fucking do that.”
“Rhys is part devil and gives no fucks about anything. You know that. If you don’t move your arse, he’ll be the one to come to get you. You prefer me, I promise.”
Phin growled at me but stood. “Are you happy now, mate? I’m up.”
“Brilliant. Now, can we move on? I get it. Aurora’s got you twisted or whatever. I don’t understand why, because she’s just a girl and there are a million other girls who would love to jump into bed with a Yates heir. So you need to get yourself together, do you hear me?”
He scowled but still pushed himself out of bed. “Fine. Better?”
I crossed my arms and leaned back against his desk. “Yeah.”
He lifted a brow. “Are you going to wait for me?”
“Not because I have nothing fucking better to do, but because I want to make sure that we leave on time. Let me guess; you didn’t pack?”
Phin just grinned.
“I will fucking end you. Move your arse.”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah. Give me fifteen minutes. If I’m not down there completely packed and showered and dressed, Dad, you can send the devil on his way.”
“Deal.”
I let myself out and slammed the door after me. Sometimes I wasn’t sure why I put up with the lot of them. My fucking mates, the Hellfire Club.
We’d all been tapped as freshers by the seniors that year. The chosen ones. It was standard secret society stuff, but graduates were senators and princes and titans of industry. We were a small but mighty group, and the streets were paved with gold for us.
Once we’d been tapped, we’d been untouchable. Whatever we wanted, we got. The world was our oyster.
I jogged down the stairs, all the way down to the first floor. I found Rhys talking to an all-too-familiar face.
“Felix?”
My brother grinned at me, the cold making red splotches in his pale cheeks. “What’s up, baby brother?”
I gritted my teeth. “Fucking Felix.” I might be the younger one, but I was forever looking after him. With him was his best mate, Chad. Just seeing his tousled blond hair made me frown. I hated Chad. He brought out the worst in my brother.
I gave the wanker a nod. He gave me a cheeky grin back, his chalky face even splotchier than my brother’s. Fucker.
“You know, it’s weird you never look happy to see me,” Felix pointed out.
I drew in a deep, calming breath. It didn’t work. I wasn’t calm. “That’s because wherever you show up, chaos reigns.” I ran my hands through my hair. It was true. You named it; Felix got into it. He was, as my mother always said, a beautiful disaster. It was like he couldn’t help raining hell onto the world.
“What are you doing here? We’re headed to the city.”
“Yeah, Mum sent me here to fetch you, sort of. She said you’ll have to take me and Chad to the airport to fly for Vail. Probably to make sure I actually get on the plane and don’t stay home in New York to ruin her holidays.”
I schooled my face. Felix and Mum had the kind of rows that made me want to be adopted out of my own fucking family. He pushed her buttons on purpose and she hated he wouldn’t fall in line. It was so like Felix to just fuck off to a ski resort over the holiday break, but it was probably for the best. Things would be calmer.
“Fair enough.”
I frowned at my brother because he was looking in the direction of the girls, primarily the queen. Was he checking out Sera? He’d never looked at her before, even though we lived so close to each other on the Upper East Side and had also gone to the same elementary school, so he’d known her forever. Why was he staring now?
He’s not looking at Sera, you dipshit.
My gut clenched and my gaze flickered back when I realized Sera and Sloane had skipped down the stairs and were climbing into her Rolls. Tanith was still fiddling with her backpack and checking her phone.
I looked back to Felix and scowled. “What are you staring at, Felix?”
He shrugged. “Were the girls always this fit when I was here?”
Why did he have to be here? Why couldn’t he have gone to Vail already? “She’s just average if you ask me.”
Lies. I shoved down the emotion I couldn’t quite name.
“Are we all ready?” I heard someone ask.
I glanced up the stairs to see Phin jogging down with his backpack slung over his shoulder. “See? Showered. Packed.”
“Did you even look before you shoved anything into your bag? And is it clean?”
Phin’s grin was a quick flash. “As if I need to answer that. Anything I’ll need, I’ll just buy.”
I rolled my eyes at him. “Let’s go.”
At the bottom, Sera waved me over. “Okay, so you know the plan, right? Once we get home, everyone unpacks, unloads, and then we are headed for ice-skating. Are you guys all set? We’ll meet at Central Park. Text for any delays. I know how Phin likes to preen.”
The corner of my lips quirked. “Yes, you know how Phin likes to preen, but really? Must we go skating? It’s not really my thing.”
She lifted a delicate dark brow. Even in her displeasure, she was beautiful. Why had I never dated her again?
You like your balls attached to you and not in anyone else’s possession.
Well, that wasn’t really fair. Sera wasn’t a ballbuster. But she was tough. Not the kind of girl you fucked around with. And since that was the only kind of girl I was interested in,
