Choosing Nerd (Devils Riot MC: Originals Book 6)
our brothers from our Franklin charter and finding out what happened to Tanner’s woman, we were about to finally get a lock on Spark. Was shocked as shit when Twister told us how Dragons Fire MC went after one of their associates. Then again, the dude in charge before Spark had an obsession with Alexis and wanted her for himself. The fuckers were stupid for going after Alexis but even furthermore for going after Cara. I plan to make each of them suffer when I get my hands on them.
“Coyote, we’ve found them, should have her extracted and on the way home soon,” I mutter quietly as Tracker and Shadow glance in my direction, furrowing their brows. Venom and Whip were out scouting the building the Dragons Fire MC are holding Cara in.
I didn’t want to tell him she wasn’t exactly going to be coming to the clubhouse. Not after that video I’d endured watching. Twister had received it and sent it directly to me. The five of us saw it and I nearly threw my fuckin’ computer at what they’d done to Cara. So, no fuckin’ way is she going anywhere but to the hospital first.
Twister and Horse have even mobilized on this. Since we’re closer to them they sent K–9 and Sabor, with a cage so we’d be able to get her to the hospital where Connors will be waiting.
“Tell him,” Tracker mouths and I shake my head. I know Tracker’s my VP and thinks I should inform Coyote of the video but that’s not happening. Not until I have Cara in my arms, and I know she’s safe.
We all know Cara and know she wouldn’t want her brother seeing the video, let alone knowing about it. She’s as stubborn as her brother. Hence the reason she refused to take his calls or come home for the holidays.
“Alright, call me the minute she’s with you all and you’re heading this way,” Coyote mutters.
“You got it, brother,” I state, feeling like shit but I don’t need him going off the rails. None of us do. Disconnecting, I put the phone back in my pocket and face my brothers.
“Should have told him,” Shadow murmurs.
“Agreed,” Tracker grumbles.
“You want his ass on his bike speeding this way, taking the chance of getting into a wreck because his mind isn’t in the right place?” I ask. They both know what I’m talking about and know I’m right. I may be called Nerd due to my computer skills but I’m also fuckin’ smart. Smarter than most even realize.
Such as the fact, during the video of those fuckers raping Cara, I’d noticed something right off the bat. The one wearing the club patch Spark isn’t the one in charge. Not even the one wearing the VP patch. No, they kept looking toward another one of the men on the video. He stayed in the background and when he took part in raping her, he’d been far more vicious with her body and commanded authority over the others.
“Then let’s go get Cara, get her the help she’s going to need. We’ll call Coyote after we get her to the hospital,” Tracker states.
Nodding, I check the clips of both my guns and place them in their holsters under my cut. “Yeah, those Dragons fuckers need to burn in the depths of hell they came from,” I sneer.
“You got that right, brother,” Shadow mutters as he heads for the door to the room, we’d gotten it in order to prepare for what’s to come in the next hour.
“Don’t know how many are in there right now but eight of them left thirty minutes ago,” Whip grumbles as the three of us step up to stand next to him and Venom.
“You sure it was eight?” I ask.
“Yeah, why?” Whip asks in return.
“And they didn’t have Cara with them?” My gut tightens at the thought of her being gone again.
“She wasn’t with them. They left as one unit,” Venom states.
“Then those motherfuckers have left her here. There can’t be more than eight of them. Twister’s club killed them off back when they kidnapped Lo-man.” As I say this something clicks in my head. “Fuck. The video was a motherfucking trap. They knew we had to have been catching up to them,” I snarl, storming away from my brothers and toward the building needing to get to Cara as soon as I can.
“Shit, he’s right,” Shadow calls out as he rushes after me.
Rushing through the clearing between where we’d been standing with Venom and Whip, I dart over the ditch and run into the building not caring if anyone follows or the dangers that could be waiting. No, what matters is getting Cara out before anything else happens to her.
“Fuck,” Tracker mutters from behind me as we open the door. Glancing to the side of the room, I see exactly what he’s talking about. A timer connected to a pile of explosives, counting down with barely five minutes left.
“Shit, let’s find Cara,” I grumble, moving further into the building.
“I’ll check this way,” Whip states.
“I’ll go with you,” Venom adds.
“Nerd and I will go this way then. Shadow, see if you can prolong that shit or something,” Tracker growls. “I’m not trying to get blown up today. Not when I have a kid at home to take care of and an ol’ lady to keep warm at night.”
“See what I can do,” Shadow grumbles.
Moving further down the hallway, my heart pounds within my chest, anxious to find Cara, yet nervous as fuck as to what I’ll find.
At the end of the hallway one of the last doors gains my attention or the lock on it gains my attention. Examining the door, I determined the lock isn’t going to be able to stop me and I could open it easy enough. Lifting a booted foot, I kick the door in. The door swings open making a thudding sound against the wall.
My eyes barely adjust to the darkness of the room when I
