Breaker's Fuse
were possible my jaw would have dropped to the floor just now.Internally shaking my head, I clear my throat. “What are you still doing here? Actually, scratch that. Why are you here period?” I demand.
It’s too early in the morning for this type of encounter with Breaker. My defenses aren’t completely in place yet. I need my caffeine to finish the wake-up process of my brain. And the fact that I’m standing here in only a camisole and panties isn’t helping the situation.
Grinning, Breaker takes the few steps separating us. With my back to the counter, he places his hands on my hips and lifts me up until I’m seated on the counter. Once he has me in place, Breaker uses his hips to spread my legs and steps in between them and pulls my front flush with his.
Oh My God.
What is he doing?
The heat of his body feels absolutely magnificent against mine.
“Much better.” Oh my. The way he said that sends a shiver through me that I’ve never felt before.
Crap.
Don’t think about how great his voice sounds. Or the fact he smells amazing. Better yet, his body is within touching distance.
Damnit.
“Now, Spitfire, since you want to start off this morning with attitude instead of being sweet, I’m thinking you need a lesson in how to act. First and foremost, you were sent here to be protected from the fuckwad who caused your face to be bruised and battered.” At the mention of Miles and the beating I’d taken, I flinch. “Second of all, mon chou, when you stepped foot out of that truck you became my responsibility. The fact you’re not at the clubhouse, means I’m staying here with you.”
“You don’t need to stay here,” I mutter.
“That’s where you’re wrong, Nora. From what I’ve heard about this Miles Granger, he’s the worst of the worst. How you, beauté, even dated the fucker is mind blowing.”
“It was only one freaking date.” God what is with everyone judging my choices.
“Yeah, Spitfire, that was one date too many,” he growls as he lifts a hand to cup the side of my face. “Third thing you’re gonna learn is I don’t like the thought of you with any other men, especially when I’m wanting to sink my cock into that pussy of yours. I’ve decided that you’re gonna be mine. This past week of you giving me the cold shoulder and ignoring me didn’t do anything but prolong this conversation. If I didn’t have to work at the garage all week to get shit caught up, this little talk would have happened before now.”
Holy shit.
Did he just say what I think he did?
Um, red alert.
Nope, ah uh, that can’t happen.
If he does that, he’ll find out something that will embarrass the hell out of me. See the downfall to my brothers being overbearing baboons is my sex life. I’ve been on tons of dates, kissed, even gone as far as feeling each other up. However, when it comes to the act itself, yeah, no, haven’t gotten that far due to Levi, Flynn, and Dash always running them off.
Yep, I’m a virgin and I’m not about to let Breaker find that little detail out.
Chapter Five
Breaker
The way Nora’s eyes narrow and she puts her hands on my chest, I know she’s about to piss me off. For the past week that’s all she’s done. I’m known for my joking and being easy going, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have a short fuse when pushed to my limit.
And that’s exactly what’s happening right now.
Nora has avoided me as much as possible, by staying in the bedroom. Doesn’t help that while Chains was in the hospital, work at the garage, strip club, and a few other places got behind and not just the paperwork but work in general. I had to be at the garage first thing in the morning every day, stay until the work was done for the day, then run over to the clubhouse to see what was going on with the information Fuse had been pulling up for us on this Miles Granger fuckwad.
During this time, I had a prospect on the house to keep an eye on Nora.
A week ago, Nora’s brothers and members of the Devil’s Riot MC explained everything that was going on with the situation so far. Chains had turned to me; this is your responsibility. I didn’t want to tell him I already intended to take it on.
Levi, Nora’s oldest brother, had stared me down for a long moment before he finally nodded his head. “Our sister isn’t always easy to get along with, but you should know she’s more delicate than she lets on.”
“We all know she throws her attitude in defense when she feels someone is putting her back against a wall. It’s why we don’t hold it against her for what she said at the house. Nora loves us as much as we do her.” Dash states, his gaze focusing on me. “I saw the way she reacted to you when you ordered her to lose the attitude. I should punch you in the face for how you spoke to Nora: however, I have to admit, I’ve never once seen my sister shut up when told to do so. She sure as hell doesn’t for any of us.”
“Shit, that woman doesn’t know when to stop. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll do anything for Nora. She’s my ol’ lady’s best friend. Took a bullet for her. She’s family, but fuck if she doesn’t listen,” Hades grumbled
“She listened to you, didn’t she?” Levi muttered.
“All I did was tell her you were right, and she needed to smarten up otherwise I’d be sure to keep my ol’ lady away from her.” Hades shrugged.
By the time all of us finished talking, the members of the Devil’s Riot MC and Nora’s brothers headed back to the house. They were crashing there for the night in order to head out first thing in the morning to
