A Bride for Noah
want you here forever. I love you too much to lose you. We were meant to be together.”Mary snuggled into her husband’s chest. “I love you too,” she said quietly. “I think I have from that first moment you helped me on the train platform.”
“What a couple of dills we are,” he said gently. “We are both too silly for our own good.”
He slid his hand underneath her and carried Mary to their bedroom.
Epilogue
Mary sat on the ground tending to her vegetable patch. The chickens were annoying her as usual, and she stood, then chased them away.
Her basket was filled with carrots, potatoes, corn, and beans. “These will be lovely for supper,” she told Noah as she walked into the kitchen.
Seth and Jacob were coming over, and they were having a lovely family dinner. Noah and Seth had made up long ago – in fact, Noah had thanked his brother for ensuring everything came out in the open.
She scraped the potatoes and added them to a pot, then did the same for the carrots. By the time these were ready, the roast chicken would be perfectly cooked. Noah came up behind her and wrapped her in his loving arms, then kissed her neck. So much had changed after that day Seth had unexpectedly visited.
Mary was certain it must have been a message from God.
She heard the horses before anything else, and turned to her husband. “At least one of our guests are here,” she told him.
“They’re not guests,” he said, chuckling. “It’s only my brothers.” Noah turned to go outside while the brothers tended to their horses in the barn.
“They’re early.” They were always early. Usually trying to get cake before supper. It made her laugh.
Mary made her way to the sitting room. She had been busy most of the day and now that supper was under control, she needed to rest. She sat on one of the comfortable chairs, closed her eyes and was quickly asleep. The next thing she knew, Noah was standing over her.
“Do you need to lay down for awhile?” he asked, concern on his face.
She shook her head. “I’m fine.” She reached for his hand. “Feel this,” she said, staring into his amazed face. “It won’t be long, and we’ll get to meet our baby.”
“I still can’t believe I was so lucky to find you,” he whispered. “I love you more than you’ll ever know.”
Tears filled Mary’s eyes. Her faith in God was restored that day back in Angel’s Pass when two virtual strangers made her an offer that would save her life.
She finally had a family who loved and appreciated her. When Seth and Jacob eventually married, she would get the sisters she never had.
She loved it here on Broken Arrow Ranch, and knew she would never leave.
