suitor and walked down the hall toward my bedroom. My exit was semi-dramatic. But it was the best I could do without any real thought or preparation.“Didn’t I tell you not to come here?” I heard Tami’s voice warn right before I ducked into my bedroom.
I also heard the door slam in Nick’s face. She really didn’t like him. I wanted to know why. I shouldn’t care. I didn’t like his flaky ass anymore either. But my curiosity wanted to hear what he had to say. Maybe I needed closure to truly move on. Or I wanted to take my angry out on him since he was the one that caused it.
I watched Brandon sit on the edge of my bed. I closed my door for privacy. I wasn’t sure why. My bestie and my ex-boyfriend had seen Brandon’s hot polish sausage. He wasn’t shy, and I was still trying to figure out if that was a good thing or a bad thing.
“So that was your ex-boyfriend?”
“Yes, we broke up three months ago.” My eyes went down to his penis because it was right there for me to see. He was incredibly big, even in his flaccid state. His dick was a distraction. “Well, I didn’t break up with him. He broke up with me for no reason that I can come up with. Something about space. He needed his space or something.”
“That’s vague.”
“It is. I blocked him and gave him the space he so desperately craved.” I was talking strangely, but the situation was weird, my excuse.
“Huh, you don’t seem clingy to me.”
“I’m not. He’s just stupid.”
“He looks stupid.” Brandon agreed.
“He showed up unannounced. I haven’t seen or talked to him in three months.”
“Why do you think he randomly appeared at your door?”
I shrugged. “I don’t know. I don’t understand why men do the things they do.”
Brandon smirked. “We don’t understand why we do the things we do. Come here.”
I walked the few steps it took to stand in front of him.
“What’s up?” I innocently asked.
“My cock.” He looked down and my eyes followed. Sure enough, his dick was up and Adam. “Hop on.”
His command was tempting, but there was one thing missing. “We need condoms.”
“I’ll pick some up later today.” Brandon grabbed my wrist and pulled me forward.
“Why are you so rough?”
“Because I know you like it rough.”
See, I couldn’t even argue with this man. He knew me. He let go of my wrist to ease himself back onto the center of my bed. I was trying to use my brain and ignore the natural juices forming inside my swollen vagina.
“Brandon, we really need condoms.” Woo chile, that was hard to say when I knew I had a WAP right between my thighs.
“C’mon, I told you I was clean.”
I decided to challenge him with the one thing I knew would run a man off to the nearest drugstore. “Okay, but what about babies?”
“You’re on the pill.”
“What?”
“You’re on birth control.”
“I never said that I was on any birth control.”
“You didn’t have to. My eyes spied a pack of birth control pills on top of your dresser.”
Fuck! I looked back and there was a pack of birth control pills right on the dresser with to my favorite Fenty Beauty lip-gloss. They were right there where I keep them. Right out in the open because I didn’t want to ever again forget to take them. That pregnancy scare got me all the way together. I vowed that would never happen again.
“Brandon, last night was great, but I have to put my foot down.”
“Okay, since you’re putting your foot down.”
The twinkle in his eyes meant he wasn’t taking me seriously. I watched as Brandon rose from the bed.
What was happening here?
“Fine. We have already had unprotected sex, but I’ll go pick up some breakfast and come back with some condoms.” He said.
“Okay, I would appreciate it.”
Brandon scanned my body. He looked at me like an animal that was deciding if he would pounce on me or trot back off into the forest. I stood very still because I heard you shouldn’t run when an animal is about to attack.
“What do you want to eat?” He asked.
“Surprise me.”
“Pancakes, bacon, eggs?” He asked as he was slipping his legs into his pants. It appeared he was going to leave without incident.
Every muscle in the top half of his body flexed when he moved, and I almost forgot to answer. His eyes found me and then I could speak.
“Yeah, pancakes.”
“I’ll be right back.” He pulled his t-shirt over his head and slid his arms in.
I stood idle as he slipped on his shoes. He grabbed his cell phone off the side night table. He walked the few steps it took to be in front of me and gently kissed my forehead.
I followed him down the hall, to the front door and watched him leave. I stood in the doorway and let my eyes follow him to the stairs. He was really fine, much better looking then my ex.
Walking toward me was my neighbor Crystal. I wiped the smile off my face instantly. She wasn’t the type of neighbor you ki-ki-d with. She was extra.
Crystal was cool enough, but she was nosey as hell. She was carrying a laundry basket, and I was sure she was coming from the Laundromat. I couldn’t understand why she just didn’t get one of those stackable washer dryers. Management let us have them in our apartments.
I wanted to close the door, but she had already seen me with my gigantic head poked outside my apartment door. I just hoped my good sex face was back to my regular resting bitch face.
“Hey Crystal.” I said as she approached me.
“Hey. Who that man coming out your apartment?”
“Nobody.”
“You lying.”
“No, no, he’s nobody important.”
“He look familiar.”
“You think all White people look the same.”
“No, I don’t. He don’t look nothing like that other boyfriend you had, the one with the Tesla.”
“Because he’s not the one with the Tesla.”
“Right. I just said that. You must really
